technology

While I think technology has been a great boost to the dating world at the same time it has been a horrendous addition. It used to be that you would actually talk with someone on the phone and then actually meet them in person. Now you start off with answering questions, then make it to actually emailing and then maybe text messaging and if you are lucky a phone call and if you are really lucky then you get to meet the person. The whole while though they could be doing the same thing with 14 other guys and just weighing which one(s) they think are the best. Instead of actually turning someone off on your own you could now be turned down because of someone else when you didn't even know that you were in a competition.

It is just bad because you can be cruising along really getting to know someone and feel that everything is going great but that text message that she receives from "her friend" is actually some guy seeing what she is up to the next day. You could feasibly lose out on a 2nd date with her because she is sitting there making a date with someone else while out with you (granted.....if someone is doing something like this they are more then likely not the right person for you unless you are into sharing your "date" but that doesn't make it any less frustrating).

So technology has made it great that it makes it easier to initially meet people but at the same time it has also made it so much easier for them to just make you totally disposable at the same time without even getting to know you. It makes every date/conversation seem like speed dating since you feel that you have to lay all of your cards on the table all at once since you may never get a 2nd chance to do it.
